Repair & Restoration Services
|
These services represent a cost effective and environmentally sound solution to maintaining beautiful interior spaces. The environmental impact of restoration and repair is significantly less than buying a new piece of furniture. The carbon foot print of the transportation of the raw materials and completed piece is many times greater than the footprint of any of our services.
Re-gluing & Repair: Over time the glue holding furniture together dries out and fails. The old dried glue is removed and an appropriate adhesive is used to restore the piece to its original strength.
Refinishing: When refinishing is appropriate, we are equipped to remove and replace a defective finish. We exercise caution when assessing whether a piece should be refinished. Refinishing can adversely affect the value of an antique, especially when that piece is to be sold in the near future. Dining Table Refinishing: Dining tables are often the most used fine piece of furniture in the home. The finish must be beautiful and rugged enough for its’ expected use. We have all the materials and facility to provide our customers with a durable appropriate finish, whether it goes on a two hundred year old antique or a sixty year old beautiful manufactured table. French Polishing: We French polish in all the traditional methods and materials. French polishing is usually done in the shop, but sometimes we can polish on site. Almost all of our finish sequences involve some combination of French polish and wax, but all are ultimately detail finished by hand. Veneer Repair: We have thousand of veneers and all the equipment and expertise to repair any veneer problem.
Finish Repair and Restoration: We can remove or reduce water marks, scratches, scuffs and make the finish more transparent. Parts Duplicated: We can replace most missing or broken parts. We have a large inventory of domestic and exotic woods. We can turn, mould and carve pieces.
Antique Furniture Restoration: Restoration is the process of making necessary repairs and eliminating the signs of misuse and neglect. All restorations are appropriate to the age and value of the piece and discussed with the client beforehand. Normal signs of use and aging are left untouched.
